It is well known for monsoon rain forests, wildlife and historical sites.

Visit places like Buley Rockholes, Florence Falls, Wangi Falls and Walker Creek to relax and rejuvenate in water. Visit Magnetic Termite Mouldsas well. Lost City and Tjaynera Falls are the other off route adventures on the way. Katherine Gorge is the main attraction of the Nitmiluk National Park. A series of sandstone gorges have formed along the river Katherine enroute from Arnhem Coast to the Timor Seas. During dry seasons, the river is comfortable to cruise through the calm waters however, when it rains hard fierce torrents flow turbulently through the gorges. Some of the other attractions at Katherine Gorge requires a few days of hiking. Although most of them are not included in regular tour packages. A 3.2 kilometres loop walk to the Barrawei Lookout provides a great view of the gorge, .are another popular destination among the tourists when you Northern Territory
