In the Sunshine Coast hinterland there are a number of small towns which include Landsborough, Melany, Montville, Mapleton, Kenilworth, Nambour and Yandina.

The Fraser Coast includes Fraser Island and the towns of Cathedral Beach, Happy Valley, Eurong and Kingfisher Bay. The Great Sandy National Park covers most of Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. In or near the Cooloola National Park on the mainland are the delightful small villages of Rainbow Beach and Tin Can Bay.
In lieu of the island is Hervey Bay, a popular whale watching destination, with Maryborough as the largest inland town closest to the Fraser Coast.
